What is Cebu Crime Watch Blog?

This blog is dedicated to reveal some of the modus operandi of criminal elements in Cebu City.  With your help, we can hopefully share information on crime prevention by knowing how petty theft / robberies occur and how to avoid the.

What started this blog?
Modus#1
My girlfriend had a nerve wracking experience in BPI-Mandaue just beside Jolibee A.S. Fortuna.  At night that place becomes a hang-out for thieves, 'kunduktors'.  The ATM was not protected by a security guard on April 14, 8:30pm.  After using the atm a man approached her to ask for money, she declined and the guy asked her if they can trade cellphones.  Yes, the unit and not the numbers.  She still declined.  She moved to a more secure place but the guy kept on watching her until I arrived.
LessonDon't use the ATMs during night time

Places with high robbery rates in Cebu:
1.  N. Bacalso Avenue near Cebu Medical Center up to the One CitiLink terminal
2.  MJ Cuenco Avenue the stretch of road from the stop light (near DSWD) up to the road that goes to manalili
3.  Cebu Piers ports 1-6.

If you know of some place that theft/robberies are high please contact me at aljoriz at gmail.com so that I can post it here for all to know

  1. I agree. Prevention is the best defense against any crime. But if it is really necessary for you to do transactions with an ATM at night or even in daytime, you must have at least 1 adult companion. Predators only attack helpless preys, and also, if the situation is of their advantage. Don't go to an ATM situated in a dark secluded area. It is better if there is a crowd of preferably aggregate individuals around, or other people at random who also have transactions with an ATM, the same as you. If there is no real necessity, it would be wise to do your ATM transactions inside a mall, or within the bank itself.
